My blog year in review, as seen through the title and first line of the first post of every month.

I did this last year, and it was kind of cool, so I’m repeating.

January: No Shit!
Although the VIM and I were still awake at midnight (a shocker in itself), we missed the actual New Year Hoopla because we were deep in conversation about soluble vs. insoluble fiber.

February: Small Wishes #34
I can’t think of anything worse for a family whose loved one just died than to have that death be the lead story on the local news.

March: AngElle is the Centrefold
Even though my original journal is no longer online, I still look at it occasionally to see where I was on this date in the past few years.

April: Looking Back
Three years ago I was part of a group-blog where there was a weekly topic and all the participants would write about it.

May: Please Indulge Me
I post a lot of pictures of flowers.

June: No posts in June.

July: Hi!
I’ve come out of hibernation to cheer Keri on for Blogathon.

August: I Can’t Believe the Way I Go Out in Public
The VIM and I took advantage of the exactly 5 hours in the last 2 weeks when the weather wasn’t 427 degrees with 105% humidity and went for a bike ride.

September: Welcome to the Neighborhood AND to Adulthood
For reasons not worth getting into here, I have never gone out and bought furniture on my own before.

October: Meaningless List #424
Things that make me happy:

November: Buddha of Hostas
I really like the picture on the new masthead.

December: The Sisterhood of Puppets
Marie always has a cute picture on her blog.

I called my grandmother last night and asked what she was doing.

Grandmother: Oh, just sitting here watching the psychedelic lights.

Me: What??!?!!?

Grandmother: The psychedelic lights. They’re hard to see during the day, but they are so pretty when it’s dark.

Me: Where are you? What lights are you talking about?
Grandmother: The lights on the Christmas tree. The Psychedelic Tree.

Me: Fiber Optic, grandma. Not psychedelic.

Here’s to December.

Here’s to hot, black, Maxwell House coffee on week day mornings, hot, black Dunkin Donuts coffee on weekend mornings, and a nice cup of hot tea on most evenings.

Here’s to fuzzy warm sweaters.

Here’s to Men in Turtlenecks.

Here’s to wrapping up in layer after layer of flannel sheets, fluffy comfoters, and heavy warm quilts.

Here’s to favorite ornaments.

Here’s to not shaving my legs for a week (and not caring).

Here’s to cold weather food – potpie, pork and sauerkraut, meatloaf. Warm Comfort.

Here’s to the first snowflakes. They never actually lay and accumulate. They just sort of swirl around, usually glittering in the sun for a few minutes to Let Us Know that there’s more where THAT came from.

I’ve seen this around. Most recently here.

1.Open your music library.
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the ‘next’ button.
6. Don’t lie.

Some couples cannot come to an agreement on money. Or politics. Or friends.

The VIM and I have found (and are very thankful) that we are extremely compatible. The only think we cannot come to an agreement on is who is going to get up to yell and throw shoes at the cats at 3am.

The sisterhood of puppets

Marie always has a cute picture on her blog. The one she has up now made me smile, and took me right back to my childhood. The Ernie and Bert puppets were The Best Christmas Gifts EVER when I was four.

Some semi-related notes:

  • This photo is further documented proof that my love of turtlenecks started at an early age.
  • My bangs are STILL horribly ugly, and as a matter of fact, my present hairdo (pre-shower ponytail) looks very similar to my hair in that picture.
