The first session with the trainer wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. She explained that we will set small goals every week – nothing so big that I can’t accomplish it – nothing so drastic that I won’t want to even try to accomplish it. We talked about my diet and lifestyle for awhile, then we moved on to the actual workout part of the session. This is where I was introduced to the Bosu trainer.

I’ve always sort of prided myself on my good balance, so I wasn’t too intimidated – until I actually stood on it. Holy cats, what a surprise! I couldn’t keep my balance. Then I got a vision of one of those dashboard hula girls and started laughing, which didn’t exactly help the problem at hand. When I got myself calmed down, the trainer handed me a ball and told me to raise it above my head, then back behind my head, then back up, then down to my chest. That was only the FIRST exercise. It was a looooooooong introduction to the Bosu. Nothing was actually IMPOSSIBLE. Nothing hurt. Nothing made me break a sweat. Once I got the hang of it, it was actually kind of fun.

I’m not as smart as I think I am.

I’ve been working on a website for a personal trainer for quite some time now. We decided early on that we wanted to barter services – a website for some personal training sessions.

I was totally hot for the idea. We would BOTH get something we wanted. Then I realized that along with personal training sessions came the actual workout. So while we were still in the early stages, I started practicing the great art of procrastination. She’d ask me when I wanted to start, I’d say, “let’s talk about it next time I come in to pick up website stuff,” or “I’m really busy at work right now…let’s wait until the end of the month.”

Last week I was talking to her on the phone about the website and she asked when I wanted to start working out. At that point, I had been successfully putting her off for about 6 months, and I was pretty confident in my ability to put her off again.

Me: “Let’s talk about it when I come in to pick up the pictures.”

Her: “Ok. Well, I won’t have a whole lot of time, what are your plans for Saturday?”

Me: *think! think! How can you outsmart her???* “Oh, on Saturdays I have a standing date with my grandmother. We go grocery shopping then lunch. I pick her up at 9:30 and we don’t get back until afternoon. (Ok, we’re usually home by 12:10, but it’s still after noon.)

Her: “Well, since you don’t pick her up until 9:30, why don’t you come in at 8? That’s plenty of time.”

Me: *gulp* ok.

Man, she’s good. So here I am, up early on a Saturday morning, getting ready to go workout.

I’ve come out of hibernation to cheer Keri on for Blogathon.

I’ve also come out of hibernation because…well, because I miss Ellemental. That “blogging as my real self” thing? Not so great. Long story. Not worth getting into here.

I’m still running short on time, and I’m not making any promises (to myself or anyone else) that Ellemental is back. But it might be.
So anyhow…GO KERI, GO! You Blog, girl! Woohoo! YeeHAAAAAAW! WHOOT WHOOT WHOOT.
